JUNKIN' DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS

It’s (officially) spring!! Color is filling in the drab branches, ground, and shrubs like a swish of paint across a drab canvas. And speaking of color, Sweet Girl and I are counting the hours until we tip-toe our way through the bluebonnets and wildflowers to endless miles of junkin’ fun at Warrenton, Marburger Farm, and Round Top, Texas. Be sure to check back here at the end of the week for pictures of our latest junkin' adventure in the Lone Star state.
Peace, love, and all the best spring junkin' stuff, y'all!

TEJAS JUNKIN' PARTY COMING SOON

HEY, Y'ALL! Just two weeks till Sweet Girl and I hop on a plane and head south to some of the most incredible JUNKIN' PARTIES in the world. That's right, we're headed to south central Texas for THE ZAPP HALL ANTIQUES SHOW at WARRENTON, THE ROUND TOP ANTIQUES FAIR, and MARBURGER FARM ANTIQUE SHOW at ROUND TOP. I’ve only been a few times before and those times were quick trips. This time around we’ll be able to soak in the sights, sounds, smells, and junk, junk, junk for several days. We're looking forward to seeing bluebonnets, fields of great junk, meeting up with friends and famous JUNKERS, and maybe just a little bite of pie Royer's Round Top Cafe style! Just to let you know how great Sweet Girl is, she passed up a trip to Disneyland to go junkin’ with mom. J We’re both making our junkin’ lists and checkin’ them twice. Stay tuned right here at the ole blog site for a front row seat. . .
PEACE, LOVE, AND TEJAS JUNKIN', Y'ALL!!

GARDEN JUNKIN'

Tiny blossoms unfurling their petals like a newborn opening her little hands for the first time has me thinkin’ it's time for one of my favorite junkin’ forays – garden stuff! I've always loved this stuff, but really got excited the first time I opened the pages of Mary Randolph Carter's book, GARDEN JUNK. It's still one of my favorite inspirational junkin' books! Peely paint, rust, concrete, vintage patio furniture, birdcages, galvanized cans, nearly anything that makes you smile while you visit your garden works. Vintage garden chairs with sexy curves and just the right amount of rust mixed with lace, beautiful blooms, and old floral dishes just begs for friends to share some savory dishes, fresh fruit, something sweet and decadent, vino, a few candles dancing in the dusk, and some fabulous tunes to celebrate the awakening of Mother Earth. (Remember that awesome garden party scene in Chocolat?) After this past wicked winter, I think all of us are ready to erase the frozen days from our memories and replace them with warm, sunshiney daydreams. Glorious days to you, sweet friends! Get your hands in some dirt, plant something to enjoy later, and celebrate the coming of spring!

Peace, love, and celebrate new life, y’all!
